Turkey-Pakistan Talks Focus on Afghan Border and Security Issues

During a meeting in Islamabad, the foreign ministers of Turkey and Pakistan emphasized the importance of enhancing stability and security in Afghanistan.

Kabul 24: Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, who traveled to Pakistan, stated that he and his Pakistani counterpart discussed security issues, as well as border concerns between Kabul and Islamabad, and the issue of terrorism.

Turkey Emphasizes Importance of Peace and Security in Afghanistan

In a joint press conference, Hakan Fidan remarked, “Our mutual goal is for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan to experience lasting peace and security. Our discussions provided an opportunity to reinforce such peace and security.” According to this senior Turkish diplomat, what happens in Afghanistan has direct effects on the situation in Pakistan. “As you know, Pakistan has a long border with Afghanistan, and any event that happens in Afghanistan affects Pakistan as well. Therefore, we also discussed this issue,” he added.

Islamic Emirate Values Turkey’s Role in Afghanistan and the Region

The Islamic Emirate said Turkey’s role is important to Afghanistan and the region. Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “We value having good contact and good relations, and currently we also have good relations in the areas of trade, economy, and politics.”
