Iran’s Lethal Crackdown: Afghan Citizen Executed for Alleged Drug Trafficking

Local sources in Herat reveal a harrowing incident as Iran enforces the death penalty on an Afghan citizen, Farooq, accused of drug trafficking.

Kabul 24: According to reports, Farooq, a resident of Ghoryan district in Herat, was executed on Monday morning, December 4th, after spending approximately one year in Iranian detention.

This comes in the wake of two prior executions of Afghan citizens from Nimruz province in Iran on similar drug trafficking charges. Alarming statistics continue to emerge, with the Human Rights Organization named Hengaw reporting three additional executions last month.
