India Reaffirms Unwavering Commitment to Peace, Stability, and Development in Afghanistan

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has reaffirmed that New Delhi’s policy toward Afghanistan remains unchanged, emphasizing its continued commitment to supporting the Afghan people.

Kabul 24: In a recent press briefing, Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stressed that India’s approach is firmly focused on promoting peace, stability, and development in Afghanistan.

“India supports peace and stability in Afghanistan and the wider region because it creates the foundation for development and progress across the entire area,” Jaiswal said. “Our position on Afghanistan is consistent with the statement made by our Permanent Representative.

We seek to strengthen peace and stability and will continue our cooperation and efforts for the welfare, development, and progress of the Afghan people.”This statement comes more than four years after the Emirate return to power.

During this period, India has maintained and expanded its economic and political engagement with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

At least three high-level Taliban officials, including Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, have made official visits to New Delhi, highlighting the depth of bilateral interactions.India is widely regarded as one of the few regional countries that has consistently maintained a constructive and non-interfering stance toward Afghanistan.

Political analyst Idris Mohammadi Zazi noted: “India is among the countries that have always had good intentions toward Afghanistan and has not been involved in conflict with it over the past several decades.

It also adopts a constructive approach in UN Security Council meetings. Given India’s significant influence in the region, strengthening ties with New Delhi would greatly benefit Afghanistan.”In recent years, New Delhi has actively worked to broaden its relations with the Taliban administration in economic and political domains.

These efforts include trade cooperation, humanitarian assistance, infrastructure projects, and high-level political dialogue. However, India’s growing engagement has not been welcomed by Pakistan, which views these developments with concern.

Experts believe that India’s continued support can help Afghanistan diversify its international partnerships and attract much-needed investment for reconstruction. With its strong economic and technical capabilities, India is well-positioned to play a vital role in Afghanistan’s infrastructure, education, and healthcare sectors.

Overall, India’s latest position underscores its long-term view of Afghanistan as a key component of regional stability and its readiness to expand constructive cooperation based on shared interests and the welfare of the Afghan people.
