U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Thursday, June 10, that American airstrikes on Iran have been completed.
Kabul 24: In an official statement, CENTCOM said: “U.S. Central Command forces, at the direction of the Commander-in-Chief, successfully concluded additional defensive strikes against multiple targets in Iran on June 10.”According to the statement, U.S. forces targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites across the country.
Units from the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy used precision-guided munitions to strike targets that posed a direct threat to American forces and international commercial shipping in regional waters.President Donald Trump stated that senior Iranian officials had contacted him directly, requesting an immediate halt to the bombing campaign.
This revelation comes as tensions between the two nations reached a critical level in recent days. The strikes were first reported on Wednesday evening by Axios, citing a senior U.S. official.
At the same time, Iranian media reported multiple explosions in southern parts of the country. CENTCOM confirmed that the operation began at 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time (1:00 a.m. Tehran time).
The U.S. described the strikes as a necessary response to “Iran’s unprovoked and ongoing aggressions.” American officials claimed that Iranian actions had endangered U.S. personnel and international maritime traffic in the region. The primary goal of the operation was to degrade Iran’s surveillance and air defense capabilities while minimizing damage to civilian infrastructure.
Details of the damage inflicted on Iranian military assets have not been fully released, though unofficial sources report that several radar sites, command centers, and missile facilities were hit.
Iran has not yet issued a comprehensive official response to the conclusion of the strikes. The end of this round of attacks may open the door for de-escalation or indirect negotiations, especially following Trump’s comments about direct contact from Iranian officials.
However, many analysts warn that the situation in the region remains highly fragile, and any new provocations could quickly reignite tensions.
In its closing statement, CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces will continue to maintain a strong presence in the region to ensure the safety of international shipping lanes and protect American interests.
