Health officials in Balkh province have announced that more than 35,000 major and minor surgical operations were successfully carried out at the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital over the past year.
kabul 24: According to Kamal Khan Zadran, spokesperson for the Balkh Public Health Directorate, nearly 85,000 patients were admitted to the hospital during this period. He stated: “We have performed over 35,000 surgical operations in various departments, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat (ENT), dentistry, dermatology, and other surgical specialties.”Officials further reported that more than 432,000 patients visited the hospital and received medical services, both as inpatients and outpatients.
Doctors and specialists at the hospital highlighted a significant improvement in the quality of healthcare services and the availability of advanced medical equipment.
They noted that many complex procedures, which previously required patients to travel abroad, are now being successfully performed locally at Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital.
Ahmad Samir Niazi, head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), said: “The entire oxygen supply system is provided through an oxygen plant, and all necessary equipment and facilities for the intensive care unit are available at standard levels.”These achievements reflect important steps toward medical self-sufficiency in Balkh province and a reduction in the need for patients to seek treatment outside Afghanistan.
Health authorities in Balkh emphasized that with continued efforts and further strengthening of facilities, the quality of medical services at Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital will improve even more, allowing a greater number of patients to receive specialized and complex treatments without leaving the country.
As one of the major healthcare centers in northern Afghanistan, Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital plays a vital role in providing medical services to the population of Balkh and neighboring provinces.
The high volume of surgeries performed in a single year demonstrates the hospital’s strong capacity and the serious commitment of health officials to enhance access to quality healthcare services inside Afghanistan.
