On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to swiftly resolve tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, describing Pakistan’s leaders as “great people.” Speaking at the signing of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, he highlighted his administration’s efforts to promote global peace.

I know both—the Marshal and the Prime Minister of Pakistan—both are great people, and I’m sure this will be resolved quickly,” he said.He emphasized that resolving global conflicts is a personal goal, stating, “If I can save millions of lives by making peace, that’s the greatest thing anyone can do.”
Trump asserted that no U.S. president has been as successful in ending wars and securing peace deals, adding, “Others start wars but don’t solve them.”He described the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement as a “historic achievement,” signaling Washington’s renewed active role in global diplomacy.
The remarks come amid improved relations with Pakistani leaders, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently praising Trump’s efforts in de-escalating India-Pakistan tensions following the April 22 terrorist attack in Kashmir.
Trump reiterated his commitment to peace, emphasizing his ability to mediate and resolve conflicts quickly through personal ties with world leaders.
He vowed to continue working toward global stability, with the Afghanistan-Pakistan issue as his next focus.
