Australia Names New Special Envoy for Afghanistan

Australia has appointed Amanda McGregor as its new Special Representative for Afghanistan, replacing Glenn Miles. Based in Doha, Qatar, McGregor will work with international partners to address the Taliban’s human rights abuses and support the Afghan people.

Kabul 24: Prior to this role, McGregor served as a senior advisor to the Canadian embassy and Prime Minister’s Office, and spent five years at the Australian Department of Defence. Most recently, she was the deputy head of mission at the Australian Embassy in Lebanon.

Australia’s interests in Afghanistan are currently managed by the Interim Mission to AfghanistanAfghanistan, which operates out of the Australian Embassy in Doha, Qatar. Australians seeking consular assistance should contact the Consular Emergency Centre in Canberra
