Breshna: 11 Provinces Get Power from Uzbekistan Deals, Kabul Capacity Hits 1,500 MW

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has announced that, under four recently signed contracts with Uzbekistan, a stable electricity supply will be ensured for 11 provinces of Afghanistan.

Kabul24: These agreements mark a significant step toward improving the country’s energy infrastructure and addressing chronic power shortages across various regions.

Additionally, Breshna revealed that the power capacity in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, will be increased to 1,500 megawatts, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents and supporting economic development.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Afghanistan’s energy system, which has long been plagued by challenges such as prolonged conflict, underinvestment, and outdated infrastructure.

Providing reliable electricity to 11 provinces, particularly in underserved areas, is expected to boost agriculture, industry, and services, while creating new job opportunities.

The capacity expansion in Kabul addresses the growing energy demands of this densely populated city, where frequent power outages have been a persistent issue for residents.

Breshna emphasized that the contracts with Uzbekistan, a key supplier of imported electricity to Afghanistan, adhere to international standards and include commitments to ensure a consistent and high-quality power supply.

This collaboration not only strengthens economic ties between the two nations but also reduces Afghanistan’s reliance on unstable domestic energy sources.

With the implementation of these projects, power outages in Kabul and other provinces are expected to decrease significantly, improving access to clean and reliable energy for households and businesses.

These developments are likely to enhance public trust in government institutions and accelerate the country’s reconstruction efforts.

Breshna also noted that future plans are underway to expand regional cooperation and invest in renewable energy sources to meet Afghanistan’s long-term energy needs, further solidifying the foundation for sustainable development.
