The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has announced that the Government of India has provided over 16 tons of medicines and diagnostic kits for infectious diseases as humanitarian assistance to the country.
Kabul 24: This aid aims to bolster Afghanistan’s healthcare capacities in combating dangerous illnesses such as malaria, dengue fever, leishmaniasis, and other serious public health threats.
In a statement posted today on X, the Ministry emphasized: “These medicines and diagnostic kits will directly support the national malaria prevention program and efforts against vector-borne diseases in Afghanistan.”
The supplies include essential drugs, disinfectants, rapid test kits, and advanced diagnostic tools, prioritized for high-risk areas and vulnerable communities.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Health described the donation as a significant step toward improving public health infrastructure and ensuring effective disease control, particularly in at-risk populations.
Distribution will begin through government health networks and mobile clinics across various provinces, with a focus on controlling outbreaks during warmer seasons when vector transmission peaks.
The Ministry expressed gratitude for India’s ongoing cooperation in the health sector, calling it a symbol of friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.
Authorities stressed that the aid will not only reduce mortality from preventable diseases but also enhance citizens’ access to quality medical services.
The Ministry announced that specialized teams will be deployed to train health personnel on using the new kits to maximize effectiveness.
Public awareness campaigns on malaria and dengue prevention will also be launched in targeted regions.
This assistance comes as Afghanistan continues to face major public health challenges, where international support plays a vital role in strengthening the healthcare system. The Ministry of Public Health urged other countries to collaborate in this critical area.
