Three days after catastrophic floods struck Nuristan province, search and rescue operations continue as four bodies remain missing.

Local resident Fazal Rahim described the heartbreaking scene: “Today, funeral prayers were held in our village for a 15-year-old girl and her six-year-old sister.
The deadly flood took their lives, and their bodies were recovered on the third day.”Another resident, Salman Danish, highlighted the wider impact: “The recent floods in Parun have created enormous challenges.
Dozens of local people were killed or injured. Parun was once a bustling center of trade and business, but these devastating floods have destroyed everything.”Local officials report that search teams, supported by government agencies and humanitarian organizations, have so far recovered the bodies of 21 victims.
However, four more people are still missing, and efforts to locate them are ongoing.Faridun Samim, spokesman for the Nuristan Governor, said: “Today is the third day of operations to recover those buried under the flood debris.
With the help of various government agencies and aid organizations, we have recovered 21 bodies so far. Four bodies remain missing, and our teams are continuing the search.
Once found, they will be handed over to their families.”Samim added that the death toll could rise further, noting that some victims may be domestic tourists from other areas whose families have not yet been identified.
