Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and other countries affected by crises, highlighting the importance of humanitarian diplomacy, international cooperation, and the protection of vital resources during conflicts.
Kabul 24: Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, highlighted Qatar’s humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan during a meeting in Doha focused on humanitarian diplomacy and water security.
She emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable populations affected by conflict, displacement, and humanitarian emergencies. Qatar has continued to provide assistance to people in crisis-hit areas, including Afghanistan, Gaza, Sudan, Lebanon, Somalia, and Syria.
The discussions also underscored the role of humanitarian diplomacy in facilitating aid delivery, strengthening international partnerships, and addressing the needs of communities affected by prolonged crises. Such efforts include humanitarian assistance, mediation initiatives, support for reconstruction, and aid for displaced civilians.
Water security was another key issue raised during the meeting. Participants highlighted the need to protect water resources and essential infrastructure, particularly in areas affected by conflict, where damage to water systems can worsen humanitarian conditions and increase risks to civilian populations.
The meeting also stressed the importance of coordinated international action to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need. Strengthening cooperation among governments and humanitarian organizations was identified as an important step toward responding more effectively to emergencies and supporting long-term recovery.
Qatar’s remarks reflect its stated commitment to humanitarian engagement and international cooperation, including assistance for vulnerable communities in Afghanistan and other countries facing complex humanitarian challenges.
