Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, announced the extensive expansion of development and infrastructure projects across the country during the seventh “Government in the Mirror of the Media” program.
Kabul 24: According to him, state ministries and enterprises over the past year have achieved significant progress in water management, road construction and restoration, railway expansion, and power generation—creating direct and indirect employment for over 160,000 people.
In water management and energy production, Mujahid highlighted the heavy costs required for dam construction and announced plans for a dam on the Kunar River, emphasizing that the project is purely national and poses no harm to neighboring countries.
Additionally, the Ministry of Energy and Water signed contracts to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity, while Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) signed 12 memorandums of understanding worth over 74 billion Afghanis with power generation companies. According to provided statistics, more than 70,000 new residential, commercial, industrial, and administrative subscribers were connected to the power grid in the year 1447 AH.
In transportation, the Ministry of Public Works and Kabul Municipality paved and concreted a total of 514 kilometers of roads. Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Works has 262 projects underway involving roads, bridges, and railways. In rail transport, studies and designs for five railway projects were completed, moving over 7 million tons of cargo during this period.
Regarding strategic international initiatives, the spokesman specified that the “Trans-Afghan” project and the development of the “Wakhan Corridor” remain top priorities for regional connectivity.
Although these major undertakings require substantial time and resources, active efforts to complete them are ongoing. In urban development, 94 urban plans were approved, and 47,000 plots of land across various provinces were allocated to resettle returnees across 33 planned townships.
