Pakistan — A deadly suicide bombing targeted a rally protesting against militancy in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 14 people and leaving more than 20 others seriously injured.
Kabul 24: The attack took place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the town of Kabal, located in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province—a region that has historically experienced intense clashes between government forces and extremist groups.
According to local officials, hundreds of citizens had gathered near a police checkpoint to voice their protest against rising insecurity.
Attendees at the peaceful demonstration chanted slogans opposing the destructive activities of militants, demanding the restoration of lasting peace, security, and the removal of armed elements from their residential areas.
Omar Khan, the district police chief of Swat, provided details on the incident, stating that a suicide bomber managed to breach security perimeters and detonated explosives in the middle of the crowd.
The force of the blast was so severe that several police officers tasked with securing the rally were among the victims, alongside civilian protesters.
Emergency responders rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, and officials fear the death toll may rise due to the critical condition of several victims.
