Senior officials of the Islamic Emirate and foreign diplomats gathered at the Loya Jirga Hall in Kabul to mark August 15 (24 Asad), commemorating five years since the collapse of the former republic and the transition to a new government in Afghanistan.
Kabul 24: Five years ago on this date, the entry of Islamic Emirate forces into Kabul marked a new chapter in the nation’s contemporary history, a day now observed annually across the country.
During the event, leadership reaffirmed its commitment to a balanced foreign policy, good relations with all nations, and mutual respect for territorial integrity.
Reading an official declaration, Deputy Spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat stated that Afghanistan seeks peaceful coexistence with the international community and will not allow its territory to be used against any country.
In return, he urged foreign nations to refrain from interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and to respect its sovereignty and national interests.
Echoing this stance, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi highlighted an approach rooted in non-interference, mutual respect, and win-win economic cooperation.
Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized in a written message that political pressure and threats remain ineffective, calling for negotiation and mutual understanding as the only viable long-term solutions to ongoing challenges.
Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi criticized economic pressures and political sanctions imposed by certain foreign powers, noting that negative policies over the past five years have yielded no results. He urged these countries to revise their approach and adopt constructive diplomacy and engagement instead.
Addressing domestic and regional issues, Minister of Borders, Nations and Tribal Affairs Norullah Noori encouraged neighboring states to resolve disputes through dialogue.
Turning to internal opposition, Noori stated that the Afghan people are weary of conflict, inviting opposing factions to abandon foreign dependency and join hands in brotherhood to rebuild the nation.
