Mujahid: Claims of Links Between Islamic Emirate and Al-Qaeda Are Completely Baseless and Politically Motivated Propaganda

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has strongly rejected allegations linking current government officials to Al-Qaeda, describing them as “completely false” and lacking any factual basis.

Kabul 24: He emphasized that no foreign or external groups are operating inside Afghanistan. In statements to the media, Mujahid said these claims are part of a deliberate propaganda campaign aimed at misleading public opinion, damaging the reputation of the Islamic Emirate, and sowing confusion among the Afghan people.

He added that such reports seek to create doubt, undermine existing trust, and pollute the political atmosphere in the country. These remarks come in response to a recently updated report by the Middle East Institute, which alleged that approximately 55 members of the Taliban administration have ties to Al-Qaeda.

Mujahid dismissed the report outright, stating: “Such claims are raised to distort the mindset of the general public against the Islamic Emirate and its officials, to manufacture propaganda that muddies the political space, or to harm the existing level of confidence.”Mujahid stressed that the Islamic Emirate maintains full control over the entire territory of Afghanistan and does not allow any external group to use Afghan soil for activities against other countries or parties.

He reiterated that the current government is unified and strong, and no foreign terrorist networks are active within the country.“These accusations appear to be designed to mislead the public and create a negative perception against the Islamic Emirate,” Mujahid noted. “They do not reflect the ground realities, and their only purpose is to damage public trust and stir political confusion.”This denial aligns with the Taliban’s longstanding position that Afghanistan under their rule poses no threat to any other nation and that no terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda or ISIS, operate from Afghan territory.

Afghanistan officials have repeatedly rejected similar international reports and UN assessments as politically motivated and unfounded.

Mujahid called on the Afghan public to remain vigilant against such reports, viewing them as attempts to weaken the current administration and undermine its legitimacy.

He reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to preventing any threat emanating from Afghanistan and maintaining security across the country.

The spokesperson concluded that these claims cannot alter the reality of the strong and centralized control exercised by the Islamic Emirate over Afghan soil.
