Contract Signed for Construction of 20km Ibak–Roydoab Road in Samangan Worth Over 641 Million Afghanis

The Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan has announced the signing of a major road construction contract for the Ibak–Roydoab road in Samangan province.

Kabul 24: The project, valued at 641 million and 670 thousand Afghanis, has been awarded to two construction companies. This 20-kilometer road will start from Ibak, the provincial capital of Samangan, and extend to the Roydoab district. It is expected to be completed within two years and handed over for public use.

According to the ministry, the contractors have already received the official notice to proceed. As per the contract terms, the companies are required to complete the survey, technical studies, and detailed design of the project within the first 75 days.

The Ibak–Roydoab road is considered one of the vital connectivity routes in Samangan province. Once completed, it will play a significant role in improving transportation infrastructure in the region.

The new road is expected to greatly ease travel for residents, reduce travel time and transportation costs, boost local trade, stimulate economic growth, and provide better access to healthcare and education services.

Samangan province, located in northern Afghanistan, has long needed improved road networks to support its growing population and economic activities.

The construction of this road will directly benefit farmers, traders, and daily commuters by making the movement of goods and people faster and safer.

Reduced transportation costs will particularly help local agricultural producers bring their products to larger markets in Ibak and neighboring provinces, increasing their income and encouraging business expansion.

Beyond its economic impact, the project holds important social benefits. Residents of Roydoab district will enjoy quicker and safer access to hospitals, clinics, and educational institutions in the provincial center.

This improved connectivity is expected to enhance public health outcomes, support students’ regular attendance, and reduce the isolation of remote communities. Better access to essential services can also help curb unnecessary migration from rural areas to urban centers.

This road project is part of the government’s broader efforts to rebuild and expand transportation infrastructure across northern Afghanistan.

Officials believe that timely and quality execution of such initiatives will raise living standards, create employment opportunities during and after construction, and attract further investment in agriculture, mining, and tourism sectors.

Local residents have welcomed the project as a much-needed step toward development and prosperity. Upon completion, the Ibak–Roydoab road is anticipated to bring visible positive changes to the economic and social landscape of Samangan province, contributing to long-term stability and growth in the region.
