Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, issued a strong warning to US President Donald Trump during a phone call on Wednesday, stating that any American ground military operation in Iran would be “completely unacceptable” and extremely dangerous.
kabul 24: According to Russia’s state news agency TASS and statements by Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s senior foreign policy aide, the conversation between the two presidents lasted more than one and a half hours.
The leaders paid special attention to the situation surrounding Iran and the Persian Gulf region.Putin described Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran as the right move, emphasizing that it should help create conditions for serious negotiations and contribute to overall stabilization in the region. However, the Russian president strongly cautioned that if the United States and Israel resort to the use of force again, the consequences would be inevitable and extremely severe — not only for Iran and its neighbors, but for the entire international community.Ushakov explained: “President Putin stressed the unavoidable and very grave repercussions of such a move.” He added that Russia is firmly committed to supporting global diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the current crisis.
In this regard, Moscow has already put forward a number of practical considerations and proposals intended to resolve the disputes over Iran’s nuclear program.Russia plans to continue active contacts with all relevant parties to advance this diplomatic track.
These include representatives of Iran, leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Israel, and the American negotiating team.
The phone call took place amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where the temporary ceasefire is viewed as a window of opportunity to prevent further escalation.
The Kremlin insists that a sustainable solution can only be achieved through dialogue and negotiations, warning that any new military adventure could seriously undermine global stability.
Putin expressed Russia’s readiness to play a constructive role and offered suggestions regarding the management of Iran’s uranium enrichment activities. While Trump has so far prioritized other issues, including the situation in Ukraine, both sides reportedly agreed on the importance of maintaining open communication channels to manage the crisis.
This development highlights Russia’s attempt to position itself as an influential player — or potential mediator — in the Iran-US standoff, even as Moscow continues to deal with its own challenges in Ukraine.
Analysts believe Putin’s firm stance may influence Washington’s calculations regarding military options and could help create additional space for diplomacy.
