The state-owned National Bus Company (Milli Bus) has activated a new public transport route in Kabul to improve daily commuting for citizens.
Kabul 24: The fresh line runs from Deh Afghanan to Sarai Shamali (Sarai Northern) and extends up to Khairkhana, providing a much-needed transportation link in one of the capital’s busiest corridors.
Officials from the company stated that the launch of this new route aims to deliver affordable, reliable, and safe transportation services to residents.
They emphasized that the initiative will significantly ease everyday travel, reduce reliance on private vehicles and informal taxis, and bring greater convenience to passengers traveling between these densely populated areas.
Deh Afghanan is known as one of Kabul’s crowded and high-traffic neighborhoods, where residents have long faced difficulties in reaching northern parts of the city, particularly Sarai Shamali and Khairkhana.
Many commuters previously had to depend on overcrowded and unregulated transport options, often paying high fares. With the introduction of this official bus line, citizens can now expect more organized, punctual, and cost-effective travel.
Company representatives highlighted that the new route will not only improve connectivity to the northern districts but will also help alleviate heavy traffic congestion along these major roads. Khairkhana, a rapidly growing and densely populated area, has been in urgent need of an efficient public transport system.
This new line is expected to address part of that demand and support smoother mobility for thousands of daily passengers.
The activation of this route is part of Milli Bus’s broader plan to expand and modernize the urban bus network across Kabul. The primary goal is to establish a dependable public transportation system that is accessible to all segments of society, especially low- and middle-income families.
Initial reactions from local residents have been largely positive. Many expressed hope that the expansion of such services will gradually reduce traffic problems in the capital and improve overall quality of urban life.National Bus authorities announced that detailed information regarding bus schedules, stop locations, and exact fares will be made public in the coming days.
Citizens are encouraged to follow the company’s official channels for the latest updates. The launch of this new route reflects the government’s serious efforts to revive and develop public transportation in Kabul. It is expected to serve as a model for introducing additional bus lines in other underserved areas of the city.
