The Naval Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the interception and capture of an advanced unmanned, autonomous US military submarine at the strategic entrance of the Strait of Hormuz.
Kabul 24: According to Tasnim News Agency, the Iranian naval authorities stated that the seized craft is “one of the most modern and intelligent unmanned submarines” in the United States military arsenal. The interception took place early Tuesday morning (September 8).
Iranian state media reported that the submarine is equipped with cutting-edge global maritime technology and was officially delivered to the US Naval fleet in 2025.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as a vital international shipping route for global energy transit. The deployment and capture of fully autonomous sub-surface military technology in these waters highlight escalating regional intelligence and naval friction.
As of now, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) and US Central Command (CENTCOM) have not issued an official response regarding the incident.
