The Afghan National Taekwondo Team is fully prepared to travel to one of the most important continental competitions.
Kabul 24: The team will depart with high motivation and excellent readiness for the Asian Taekwondo Championships in Mongolia, where Afghan athletes will compete against strong rivals in six weight categories to secure qualification spots for the Asian Games.
Head coach Mohammad Bashir Taraki described the event as highly significant and decisive. He emphasized that the national athletes have undergone intensive training and detailed planning, arriving with complete physical and mental preparedness.
According to Taraki, the main goal is not only to win medals but also to earn valuable qualification slots for the Asian Games, which could significantly elevate the position of Afghan taekwondo across Asia.
However, one disappointing piece of news is the absence of team captain Mohsen Rezaei. Federation officials confirmed that Rezaei will miss the competition due to illness.
Despite his absence, the rest of the squad is entering the event with strong morale and doubled motivation, determined to fill the captain’s gap through collective effort and fighting spirit.
Six elite taekwondo athletes, accompanied by two experienced coaches, will represent Afghanistan in the championships.
This focused delegation highlights the federation’s emphasis on quality over quantity, with each athlete expected to deliver their best performance in their respective weight class.
The participating athletes have stated that they are fully prepared and will stand with national pride to defend Afghanistan’s name and honor against their Asian opponents.
They view this competition as a golden opportunity to showcase the recent progress of taekwondo in the country. This important continental event is being hosted by Mongolia in the current Persian solar month and serves as a key stage in the qualification process for the Asian Games.
A successful performance by the Afghan athletes could not only secure valuable quotas but also boost the spirit of athletes and taekwondo enthusiasts across the nation.
