Anoush Dastgir on the Global Stage: Appointed Head Coach of Netherlands U18

Anoush Dastgir, former head coach of the Afghanistan national football team, has taken a significant step in his coaching career by being appointed as the head coach of the Netherlands U18 national team.

Kabul 24: In a post on his Facebook page, Dastgir announced that he has signed a contract with the Dutch Football Federation and will lead the Netherlands U19 team in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA European U19 Championship starting next year.

This achievement marks a major milestone in the career of this young and ambitious coach.At just 35 years old, Dastgir brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

In 2018, he served as the head coach of the Afghanistan national football team, having previously worked as an assistant coach for the same team. In 2016, he also contributed as an assistant coach during the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Holding a UEFA A coaching license, Dastgir has established himself as a qualified and capable coach. A resident of the Netherlands, he previously coached the youth team of NEC Nijmegen, showcasing his ability to nurture young talent.

However, Dastgir’s tenure with the Afghanistan national team was not without criticism. After his departure, some Afghan social media users expressed dissatisfaction with his record, noting that under his leadership, the team played 26 matches, securing 5 wins, 8 draws, and suffering 13 losses.

Despite this, his appointment as the Netherlands U18 head coach reflects the confidence that the Dutch Football Federation has in his abilities.
