Bilateral Trade Between Afghanistan and India Reaches One Billion Dollars

In the fiscal year 2024-25, bilateral trade between Afghanistan and India has reached a significant milestone of one billion dollars, marking a pivotal moment in the economic relations between the two nations. This remarkable growth reflects the strengthening of commercial ties, increased mutual trust, and the expansion of economic cooperation between Kabul and New Delhi.

Kabul 24: According to reports, a substantial portion of this trade is attributed to the increased export of Afghan agricultural products to India. Products such as dried fruits, saffron, almonds, pistachios, and pomegranates from Afghanistan, known for their high quality and growing demand in the Indian market, have played a key role in this achievement.

In return, India has boosted its exports of goods such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, processed food items, and industrial machinery to Afghanistan.

This volume of bilateral trade has not only contributed to strengthening the economies of both countries but has also created new opportunities for investment and the development of commercial infrastructure.

The signing of new trade agreements, streamlining of customs procedures, and improvements in transportation infrastructure are among the factors that have driven this growth.

Additionally, regional initiatives such as transit corridors and economic cooperation within the framework of international organizations have played a significant role in facilitating trade between the two countries.

Experts believe that this upward trend has the potential to elevate bilateral trade to even higher levels in the coming years, particularly if logistical and bureaucratic obstacles are reduced and joint investments in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, and technology are expanded.

This achievement represents a positive step toward consolidating economic relations and fostering regional stability between Afghanistan and India.
