Following a sudden surge in military tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, news sources have reported direct missile engagements between the two sides across the Persian Gulf and the broader Middle East.
Kabul 24: According to published reports, a US official stated that the American military launched a strike against two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US official claimed the action was taken after observing and detecting movements by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to prepare the launchers, allegedly intended to fire missiles carrying naval mines into the transit routes of the Strait of Hormuz.
Confirming the strike, Tasnim News Agency reported that the military action resulted in at least two casualties. In response, the IRGC explicitly declared that it would retaliate against the attack.
Just hours after the incident in the Persian Gulf, reports emerged indicating the initiation of Iranian retaliatory action. Citing regional and Arab sources, the IRIB News Agency reported hearing multiple explosions near the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, a facility housing elements of the US military.
Concurrently, Fox News quoted a US official confirming that the military facility hosting American troops in Jordan had come under an Iranian missile attack.
However, according to the network, air defense systems operated effectively, intercepting and destroying nearly all of the incoming Iranian missiles.
To date, no direct impacts, material damage, or casualties have been reported from the base. These developments mark a sensitive and unprecedented phase of direct confrontation in the ongoing regional conflict.
