Ishaq Dar: A Stable and Peaceful Afghanistan Benefits Pakistan

Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, stated that a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan is in Islamabad’s best interest.
Kabul 24: Speaking at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia, he emphasized that preventing Afghan soil from being used against Pakistan is a legitimate expectation of Islamabad from Afghanistan’s interim government.

Dar elaborated, “We firmly believe that a peaceful, stable, united, and prosperous Afghanistan aligns with our vital interests. Given the sincere efforts Pakistan has made in support of Afghanistan, it is our legitimate expectation that the Afghan interim government takes all necessary steps to ensure its territory is not used for terrorist activities against any country, particularly Pakistan.”These remarks come amid strained relations between Kabul and Islamabad in recent years.

Pakistan has repeatedly claimed that terrorist groups, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), operate from Afghan soil to launch attacks against it.

However, Gul Mohammaduddin Mohammadi, a political analyst, dismissed these claims as baseless, stating, “Pakistan has provided no credible evidence to prove TTP’s presence in Afghanistan.
