Islamic Emirate Condemns Pakistani Airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand; 9 Civilians Killed

Zabiullah Mujahid, the official spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, issued a formal statement reporting that airstrikes conducted by Pakistani military aircraft last night targeted areas in Kunar and Helmand provinces.

Kabul 24: According to the spokesman, the aerial bombardments resulted in significant civilian casualties and material destruction, leaving at least nine Afghan civilians—including women and children—dead.

Detailed information provided in the statement indicates that the airstrikes struck residential and border areas in the Chogam region of Shaltan district in Kunar province, as well as the Saffar region of Garmsir district in Helmand province. Mujahid confirmed that alongside the nine fatalities, 11 other civilians sustained severe injuries. Additionally, the targeted missile strikes destroyed at least three residential homes in these communities.

Condemning the military action and offering condolences to the families of the victims, the spokesman denounced the incursions as a breach of Afghan sovereignty. “We strongly condemn this act and consider it an explicit aggression and a crime contrary to all established international norms and principles,” Mujahid stated.

These airstrikes and territorial violations occur amid escalating cross-border and security tensions between Islamabad and Kabul in recent months. Officials of the Islamic Emirate have repeatedly warned against the grave repercussions of unilateral military actions on bilateral relations, emphasizing the imperative of respecting Afghanistan’s territorial integrity.
