Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, on Sunday (2 Shahrivar) rejected direct negotiations with the United States and criticized those advocating for relations between the two countries, calling them “superficial.”
Kabul 24: In a speech to his supporters, Khamenei claimed that the Iranian people would stand against those pushing for direct talks or ties with the U.S. He stated, “Those who say, ‘Why not negotiate directly with America and resolve the issues?’
are superficial. The reality is different, and given the true nature of America’s hostility toward Iran, these issues are unresolvable.”Khamenei did not address the severe challenges Iran has faced in recent weeks, instead asserting that the country holds a “high position.”
This comes as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently criticized opponents of negotiations with the U.S., saying, “If you don’t talk, what will you do? Do you want to fight?”
Meanwhile, the U.S. President has claimed that recent American attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—”destroyed” Iran’s nuclear program and warned that further attacks would follow if Iran resumes uranium enrichment.
