New Delhi has strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghan territory that resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.
Kabul 24: Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, made the remarks during a press briefing, stating that India firmly supports Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.“We have strongly condemned the Pakistani airstrikes on Afghanistan which led to the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women and children,” Jaiswal said.
He extended India’s deepest condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated New Delhi’s unwavering commitment to Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
The Indian spokesperson emphasized that India remains a steadfast friend of the Afghan people. “We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance and development cooperation to Afghanistan,” he added.
India has already sent consignments of medicines and other essential humanitarian aid, while also implementing various development projects aimed at improving the daily lives of ordinary Afghans.
These efforts, he noted, will continue. This firm stance comes amid heightened border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of allowing its soil to be used against Pakistani interests — a claim strongly rejected by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which has insisted it will not allow its territory to be used against any country, including its neighbors.
In a separate statement, Bilahari Kausikan, former Singaporean diplomat, dismissed Pakistan’s tendency to blame India, Afghanistan, and other neighbors for its problems. “You cannot keep blaming others for all your troubles,” he said. “While geography may present challenges, the root cause of Pakistan’s problems lies in domestic mismanagement.
A country that constantly shifts blame to others will never solve its own issues.”India’s position underscores its long-standing commitment to regional stability and development in Afghanistan.
Despite political complexities, New Delhi continues to be one of the major providers of humanitarian and reconstruction support to the war-torn country.
In conclusion, India reaffirmed its readiness to work constructively with Afghanistan to support its reconstruction and help improve the lives of its people through sustained humanitarian and developmental assistance.
