Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, announced on Wednesday during a meeting with Mulla Hamidullah Akhundzada, the Afghanistan Minister of Transport, that direct flights between Kabul and Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, will soon be established.
Kabul 24: The meeting, held in a formal setting, provided a platform for extensive discussions aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations between the two sides.
Korobchenko emphasized the importance of air connectivity, stating that direct flights would not only facilitate business and people-to-people travel but also mark a significant step toward deepening bilateral cooperation.
The discussions covered key transportation issues. Korobchenko proposed enhancing logistics and transport infrastructure to boost trade between Tatarstan and Afghanistan.
A major focus was the proposed construction of a KAMAZ truck manufacturing plant in Afghanistan. This project could create jobs, transfer technology, and strengthen Afghanistan’s domestic production capacity.
Korobchenko noted that KAMAZ, one of Russia’s leading heavy vehicle manufacturers, is ready to invest in Afghanistan, playing an active role in the country’s economic development.Additionally, both parties explored ways to increase trade volume and diversify exported and imported goods.
Tatarstan, known for its dynamic economy and advanced industries, could become a key partner for Afghanistan in supplying machinery, industrial equipment, and agricultural products. In return, Afghanistan could export its agricultural goods and raw materials to Tatarstan’s markets.
Such cooperation is expected to foster balanced trade and solidify economic ties. The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to expanding economic collaboration.
The establishment of direct flights and joint projects like the KAMAZ factory could serve as a turning point in Tatarstan-Afghanistan relations, contributing to sustainable development in the region. This initiative reflects a broader vision of fostering connectivity and economic growth through strategic partnerships.
