The 2026 Global Security Forum, focused on world order and international security, concluded on Friday, May 29, in Moscow.
Kabul 24: During the forum, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, delivered a firm speech emphasizing Afghanistan’s full sovereignty over its territory and strongly rejecting any foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs.
Mujahid described the strengthening of Afghanistan’s defensive capabilities as a key factor in improving regional security.
He stated: “We seek to build a professional and modern defense system that not only secures Afghanistan but also plays a positive and constructive role in the stability of the region.”He added: “From this platform, we once again emphasize that historical experience has proven those who, based on miscalculations and arrogance, have oppressed our people have never achieved their sinister goals.”Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, also addressed the forum, declaring the end of the Western-led unipolar world.
He criticized Western policies, saying: “The unipolar world is collapsing. Countries of the Global South and East have long realized that the main cause of unprecedented global tensions is the boundless efforts of Western countries to expand their influence and control the resources of other nations.
This is what is known today as neo-colonialism.”On the sidelines of the forum, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia held bilateral talks with Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid.
The two sides discussed the regional security situation and prospects for military and defense cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia.During his official visit to Moscow, Mujahid also visited the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
He praised the embassy’s activities and performance, describing it as an effective representation of Afghanistan’s interests on the international stage.
The participation of Afghanistan’s Defense Minister in the Moscow Global Security Forum reflects the Islamic Emirate’s efforts to strengthen its position in regional and international security forums.
The central messages from the Afghan delegation focused on respect for national sovereignty, rejection of external interference, and readiness for constructive regional security cooperation.
