The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, addressing recent movements and incidents along the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, stated that there is no serious security threat in these areas and that the situation is fully under control of the border forces.
Kabul 24: Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, emphasized the coordination between the border forces of both countries, asserting that no group or individual will be permitted to use Afghan soil against the security of Tajikistan.
In his statement, he said: “There has been no military clash or concerning security problem along the border. Our forces, in full cooperation and coordination with the TajikTajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan Agree on Trilateral Road Transport Corridor side, are monitoring all border issues, and we assure that no harm will reach Tajikistan from the Afghan side.”
These remarks follow heightened sensitivities and media coverage surrounding recent border developments between the two nations.
The Islamic Emirate spokesperson attributed a major portion of the current challenges in these regions to drug trafficking networks, noting that smuggling in certain zero-line border areas has a long history and is unrelated to organized military threats.
This updated stance by the government of Afghanistan comes after Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security reported a border clash resulting in the deaths of two Afghan citizens. According to Tajik officials, these individuals had entered the country illegally and were involved in drug trafficking and transit.
Meanwhile, political analysts and experts believe the most effective strategy to prevent such incidents is reinforcing security measures to seal the border, preventing illegal crossings, and maintaining direct communication channels between the border commanders of both countries.
Analysts suggest that continuous communication among local officials can minimize security risks and prevent border misunderstandings.
