Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Afghanistan’s Minister of Defense, conducted an official visit to Badakhshan province where he inspected several border posts and strategic frontier areas.
Kabul 24: The trip focused on assessing the operational readiness of border security forces, evaluating their working conditions, and expressing appreciation for their dedicated service in protecting the country’s borders.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, Mujahid visited the districts of Koran wa Munjan, Zebak, Wakhan, and Pamir. He toured numerous border outposts in these areas and examined key strategic locations along Afghanistan’s borders with China and Tajikistan, as well as the Durand Line.
During the visit, the Defense Minister closely observed the preparedness and daily activities of the border forces.
He met with commanders and soldiers stationed at remote outposts, praised their tireless efforts despite challenging mountainous terrain and harsh weather conditions, and highlighted the vital role they play in national security.
Mujahid emphasized that safeguarding Afghanistan’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and borders is a shared responsibility of all security and defense forces. “Protecting the homeland’s borders is a sacred duty,” he told the troops, stressing the importance of unity and vigilance in fulfilling this mission.
The minister also pledged greater efforts to enhance the capabilities of border units. He promised improved coordination among security institutions, better logistical support, and the provision of necessary equipment and facilities to strengthen their operational effectiveness.
