Afghanistan and India Foreign Ministers Discuss Earthquake Relief and Bilateral Ties

Following a devastating 6.3-magnitude earthquake in northern Afghanistan that claimed at least 20 lives and injured over 600 people, Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, held a phone call with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to discuss relief efforts and bilateral relations.

Kabul 24: According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jaishankar expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake. He announced that India has delivered 15 tons of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, to the Islamic Emirate, with additional assistance, such as medicines and more food, to be provided soon.

Muttaqi thanked India for its solidarity, sympathy, and support for the Afghan people during this tragedy, welcoming the timely delivery of aid to those in need.

The two ministers also discussed strengthening bilateral ties and regional issues, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation following Muttaqi’s recent visit to India.

The earthquake has caused significant damage in northern Afghanistan, underscoring the urgent need for humanitarian support.

India’s assistance reflects the growing relationship between the two nations, paving the way for further collaboration. This dialogue highlights their shared commitment to addressing immediate crises and fostering long-term partnerships.
