Afghanistan will field its biggest team yet at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, dispatching 69 athletes across 13 sports.
Kabul 24:This milestone reflects the nation’s renewed investment in sports development and international competition.The Afghan delegation will compete in athletics (2 athletes), boxing (2), futsal (14), jujitsu (7), karate (3), Muay Thai (2), swimming (4), table tennis (2), taekwondo (5), volleyball (12), weightlifting (4), Pahlavani (9), and wushu (3).
This diverse lineup underscores the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan’s commitment to elevating the country’s global sports presence.
Following intensive training in Kabul and abroad, Afghan athletes aim to secure the country’s first gold medals in disciplines like taekwondo and Pahlavani, where they have recently excelled in regional competitions.
The 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, held from November 7 to 21 in Riyadh, mark the 25th anniversary of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.
The event, uniting approximately 3,500 athletes from 57 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, will feature 21 sports and 2 para-sports, promoting unity, cultural exchange, and peace among Muslim nations.
Ariana Radio Television, the official broadcaster of the Games in Afghanistan, will provide comprehensive coverage of the athletes’ performances.
The sixth edition of the Games returns to Saudi Arabia after 20 years, with the inaugural event held in 2005.Afghanistan’s robust participation not only offers a platform for its athletes to shine globally but also symbolizes national progress and unity in advancing sports and fostering pride.
