Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, in an interview with Tolo News, addressed key issues concerning Afghanistan’s current situation.
Kabul 24: Regarding girls’ education, a highly sensitive topic drawing global attention, he stated that efforts are ongoing to find a solution compliant with Islamic Sharia.
Mujahid emphasized that preserving the dignity and ensuring safe commuting conditions for girls are top priorities.
He noted, “To reopen schools and universities for girls, a precise Sharia-based authorization is needed to convince religious scholars and ensure sustainable progress.”
These remarks come amid widespread criticism, both domestically and internationally, over educational restrictions for girls over the past four years.Mujahid also announced the Islamic Emirate’s decision to end the acting status of the cabinet.
He described this move as a step toward enhancing efficiency and stability in the governance structure, stating, “The Islamic Emirate has decided that the term ‘acting’ is no longer needed, and the cabinet will serve the people with full responsibility.” This change reflects an effort to strengthen administrative frameworks and better address public needs.
Addressing the lack of international recognition of the Islamic Emirate, Mujahid attributed it to the hostile policies of certain countries toward Afghanistan.
On the issue of forming an inclusive government, he clarified that opportunities are open to committed and qualified individuals. He highlighted that figures like the Minister of Commerce, a national businessman, and other officials at deputy levels, who were not previously part of the Emirate, are now involved.
“This does not mean we exclude those without a background in the Emirate; anyone who is committed, loyal, and qualified, with piety and competence, is welcome,” he added.As the Islamic Emirate enters its fifth year of governance, challenges such as girls’ education remain unresolved, complicating its path forward amid ongoing domestic and international scrutiny.
