New Law Regulating Poetry Gatherings Published in Official Gazette

The Ministry of Justice announced that the Law on Regulating Poetry Gatherings, signed by the Leader of the Islamic Emirate, has been published in the Official Gazette.

Kabul 24: Comprising two chapters and 13 articles, this law specifically outlines the procedures for holding poetry gatherings, the content of poets’ works, and the duties of the evaluation committee.

According to the law, poets are required to adhere to Islamic and ethical principles before and during poetry gatherings.

They must refrain from insulting religious sanctities, inciting division among ethnic groups or languages, promoting un-Islamic behaviors, or criticizing the decisions of the Leader of the Islamic Emirate.

The law emphasizes that poets should focus their works on Islamic principles, Sharia-based policies, strengthening the unity of the Islamic Ummah, and promoting religious values.

The Ministry of Information and Culture, along with its provincial directorates, is tasked with registering poetry gatherings.

After evaluation and approval by the designated committee, the gatherings will be published through an official channel.

The law further stipulates that poets and artists contributing to social reform will be recognized and honored by the Ministry of Information and Culture. Conversely, violators will face punishment in accordance with Sharia rulings.

This legislation aims to organize poetry gatherings and promote content aligned with Islamic and ethical values.

It is expected to transform these gatherings into platforms for fostering unity, promoting Islamic culture, and supporting social reform.

Poets and organizers are urged to comply with the law to uphold cultural and religious values while avoiding violations that could lead to penalties.

The law reflects the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to regulating cultural and literary activities within a Sharia framework, highlighting the responsibilities of relevant institutions in overseeing and supporting such initiatives.

Poets and organizers must adhere to these regulations to contribute to the advancement of Islamic culture and ethics.
