Russia Officially Invites Amir Khan Muttaqi to Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced that the Russian Federation has officially invited Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to attend the upcoming Moscow Format consultations regarding Afghanistan.

Kabul 24: Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed in an interview with Hurriyat Radio that the Acting Foreign Minister will represent Afghanistan as an official participant at this diplomatic gathering. He noted that Minister Muttaqi will present Kabul’s official stance regarding the expansion of regional economic, commercial, and security cooperation. Furthermore, bilateral meetings between the Afghan delegation and senior representatives of participating nations are scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the summit.

The Moscow Format consultative meeting is slated to convene on the fifth of this month, hosted by Russia with the participation of special envoys and diplomats from across the region. Established in 2017 to facilitate regional dialogue on Afghanistan, the Moscow platform brings together delegates from nations including China, India, Iran, Pakistan, and Central Asian states.

The extension of an official invitation to Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister underscores ongoing diplomatic engagement between Kabul and key regional powers. Political analysts consider the participation of Islamic Emirate representatives in such international forums a significant opportunity to present Afghanistan’s perspectives on regional stability, counter-terrorism, cross-border transit, and foreign investment, while reinforcing Moscow’s role in advancing regional integration.
