Tezcan Gazioğlu, Turkey’s Consul General in Herat, stated during the arrival ceremony: “This is the Train of Goodness that has come from Ankara to Herat, transporting nearly 1,300 tons of food and non-food items to Afghanistan.

Insha’Allah, this aid shipment, like previous ones, will be distributed.” He added that Turkey plans to continue such assistance in the future, with several Turkish aid organizations actively helping vulnerable populations across various regions of the country.

The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) will handle the distribution. Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the ARCS, announced: “These humanitarian aids from Turkey will be distributed to thousands of needy families throughout Afghanistan.

Previous aid was distributed in 23 provinces, and this shipment will cover the remaining 11 provinces as well as others.” This broad distribution aims to reach as many affected families as possible nationwide.railjournal.com

Meanwhile, many Afghan families continue to face severe hardships. Ghulam Mohammad, a laborer in Herat and the sole breadwinner for a six-member family, has been unemployed for weeks. He shared: “Aid has stopped for a year now.

Previously, international organizations provided rotating aid cards—every two to three months, we’d get a sack of rice, a canister of oil, and a sack of flour—but nothing has come in the past year.” His story reflects the struggles of countless households reliant on external support, especially after the cutoff of much international aid.english.news.cn

This event not only provides immediate relief but also underscores the critical importance of the Khaf-Herat railway as a key corridor for transit and humanitarian aid. Turkey’s actions reinforce its fraternal ties with Afghanistan, offering hope that continued support will help alleviate the country’s deepening humanitarian crisis.
