In an official ceremony held today (Tuesday) at Roznak Railway Station in Herat province, a massive 1,271-ton consignment of humanitarian aid from the Republic of Türkiye was formally handed over to the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS).
kabul 24: The event was attended by Mawlawi Hayatullah Muhajir Farahi, Governor of Herat, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Tezcan Gazioglu, Consul General of Türkiye in Herat, and a number of senior officials from both countries.Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor of Herat expressed profound gratitude to the government and people of Türkiye, describing the assistance as “a turning point in alleviating the suffering of affected families.” :
“The people of Herat and the entire western zone are deeply grateful for Türkiye’s continued brotherhood and support.
The local administration stands ready to provide full cooperation in the transportation, storage, and transparent distribution of these aid items, and we are committed to ensuring that not a single kilogram reaches undeserving hands.”Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, thanked Türkiye for its trust and assured:
“As always, these 1,271 tons of food and non-food items will be distributed across Afghanistan in a completely transparent, fair, and needs-based manner, with priority given to families affected by recent floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.”Tezcan Gazioglu, Turkish Consul General in Herat, noted that this is the largest rail shipment of Turkish aid to Afghanistan this year, and stated:
“Türkiye has stood and will continue to stand beside our Afghan brothers and sisters in the most difficult times.
These 1,271 tons are only part of Ankara’s long-standing commitment to the people of Afghanistan, and our humanitarian cooperation will continue.”Transported via the Türkiye–Iran–Afghanistan railway corridor, the consignment includes flour, rice, cooking oil, pulses, blankets, tents, hygiene kits, and other essential items. Distribution to various provinces is scheduled to begin in the coming days.
The handover comes as Herat and several other provinces continue to recover from devastating floods in recent months, making urgent humanitarian assistance more critical than ever.
