Rosa Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has voiced deep concern over the dire situation of returning migrants, attributing it to the international community’s failure to take responsibility.

Kabul 24: She has called for immediate action and the initiation of regional dialogues to address the crisis of returnees effectively.

The lack of adequate facilities, limited job opportunities, and insufficient resources for shelter, food, and healthcare pose significant challenges for returnees.

She described this situation as a threat to Afghanistan’s fragile stability, urging the international community to step up and share responsibility.

Otunbayeva stressed that Afghanistan’s stability and sustainable development are not only in the country’s interest but also benefit the region and the world at large.

She urged the international community to provide financial and technical assistance to help Afghanistan address this challenge, reinforcing that global responsibility is critical to ensuring a stable future for the country and its people.
