The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has strongly rejected recent allegations made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, dismissing them as blatant interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
Kabul 24: Kabul urged Islamabad to focus on resolving its own domestic security crisis rather than placing blame on neighboring countries.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, countered Pakistan’s claims by denying that Afghan soil is being used against any nation. Reversing the accusation, he alleged that Islamabad itself remains the primary source of regional instability.
He stated that Pakistan continues to fuel conflict and insecurity, pointing out that ISIS elements are being nurtured within Pakistani territory and deployed against Afghanistan, while fugitive anti-Kabul factions are openly hosted, organized, and incited across the border.
The harsh exchange follows comments by Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s envoy to the UN, who claimed during an interview with an Arab media outlet that the caretaker government had failed to fulfill its international commitments.
The Pakistani diplomat asserted that the global community expected an inclusive governance framework, respect for human rights particularly regarding women and girls—and a guarantee that Afghan territory would not harbor hostile forces. He argued that no progress had been made on these fronts over the past five years, alleging notable regression instead.
More than a year after relations between Kabul and Islamabad began to deteriorate, mutual recriminations continue to escalate. Despite mediation attempts by several regional powers aimed at defusing the friction, the political and economic future of bilateral ties between the two neighbors remains uncertain.
